John Woodard house. Local tradition says the oldest center section of the house predates 1798 although the interior woodwork suggest it could be from the early 1800's. It's a great example of a eastern Carolina coastal cottage. The center section with the chimneys was probably built first and then the front porch and rear shed rooms were added later. At some point the front porch was enclosed to make for two more small rooms with a breeze way in between. Wilkes County, NC.
