What a suitable theme for the first windy day of summer, and the last art class this school year! The lovely and dainty dandelion! We rehashed some of the pen and line, illustration, and watercolor techniques we explored this year. Salt, alcohol spritz and rubber cement resist were some of the tricks and tools we used. Kids ages 6-8.

2nd grade honey bees- these have been a big hit! I am posting this one from my last class so you can see how value played into the lesson by the third time I had taught it.

2nd grade Bees in a Hive- 2 week project. Week 1 tracing hexagon pattern blocks with brown crayons, adding yellow and gold oil pastels, and yellow, orange, and brown watercolor. Week 2 drawing bees with sharpies, coloring with crayon, cutting and gluing to the hive. I think they are sweet as honey!
