The Liberty Bell is an iconic symbol of American independence, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formerly placed in the steeple of the Pennsylvania State House (now renamed Independence Hall), the bell was commissioned from the London firm of Lester and Pack (today the Whitechapel Bell Foundry) in 1752, and was cast with the lettering (part of Leviticus 25:10) "Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." It originally cracked when first rung after arrival ...

Bucket list: The Liberty Bell
PHILADELPHIA....1. See the Liberty Bell Every American knows what the Liberty Bell looks like, complete with its iconic crack. Seeing it in person is a definite must-do on any list of fun things to do in Philadelphia. It's located in the Liberty Bell Center where you'll marvel at a true piece of history and get a perfect photo opportunity. It's the perfect blend of history and one of the fun things to do in Philadelphia. 2. Visit Reading Terminal Market The Reading Terminal Market is one of the fun things to do in Philadelphia because it hits all your senses with its sights, sounds, and smells as merchants hawk food, flowers, cookware, crafts, and more. You've no doubt heard of the Pennsylvania Dutch, and the Reading Terminal Market has plenty of authentic Amish goods. Allow several hours for shopping and noshing, as the market is truly one of the fun things to do in Philadelphia and you'll want to stop at every stall. 3. Visit China Town You'll know you've reached Philadelphia's Chinatown when you spot the ornate gate, the first of its kind built by Chinese artisans in America Visiting Chinatown is one of the fun things to in Philadelphia because you can soak up another culture right in the heart of the city. Visit quaint shops and sample authentic cuisine, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Burmese, and Thai restaurants. You can easily spend a few hours seeing why China Town is one of the fun things to do in Philadelphia. 4. Take the Kids to the Please Touch Museum Philadelphia has traditional museum experiences, like the venerable Philadelphia Museum of Art, but all that looking without any touching gets boring to kids. The Please Touch Museum is among the fun things to do in Philadelphia because youngsters are encouraged to touch and explore everything in the various exhibit zones. Kids can jump from City Capers to River Adventures and Rainforest Rythmn, and no visit is complete without a ride on the Dentzel carousel. Make a deal with your young family members; if they'll behave at the historical sites, you'll make sure they see the fun things to do in Philadelphia, with the Please Touch Museum being high on the list. 5. Ride the Balloon at the Philadelphia Zoo The Philadelphia Zoo itself is one of the fun things to do in Philadelphia, but you must ride the Channel 6 Zoo Balloon if you go there. The Zoo Balloon is a tethered balloon that takes you up 400 feet for a panoramic view of Philadelphia. It's one of the fun things to do in Philadelphia unless you're afraid of heights. Rides last 10 minutes, and the Zoo Balloon offers special family rates. The balloon ride is especially appropriate because Philadelphia was the site of America's first passenger balloon launch in 1793.
The history of our nation unfolds on the streets in and around the Independence National Historical Park. Visit Independence Hall, known as the birthplace of America, where the Declaration of Independence was signed or see the Liberty Bell, an iconic symbol of our nation and the struggle for freedom.

Kennedy Center, Washington DC - We had dinner here November 4, 2003 on our Riverhill School trip. After dinner we saw a performance of "Shear Madness" Fun Night!!
The Kennedy Center. Check out the free concerts, daily at 6pm. Make sure you get there early, the place gets full pretty quickly. I think it is just such an amazing idea, sponsored by Target, and it is also so great to see how many people still support classical music.

The focus of the Lincoln Memorial is this sculpture of Abraham Lincoln, seated. Daniel Chester French studied many of Mathew Brady's photographs of Lincoln, and depicted the president as worn and pensive, gazing eastwards down the Reflecting Pool at the capital's starkest emblem of the Union, the Washington Monument. One hand is clenched, the other open. Beneath his hands, the Roman fasces, symbols of the authority of the Republic, are sculpted in relief on the seat.

It is situated in the Lincoln Memorial (constructed 1914–22), on the National Mall, Washington, D.C., USA, and was unveiled in 1922. Stylistically, the work follows in the Beaux Arts and American Renaissance traditions.

Bluebonnets generally begin blooming in mid-March and continue into April when they’re joined by other later blooming varieties of native flowers. Advice for finding the most beautiful blooms: “Drop in at small-town cafes and ask locals. They know the country better than anyone else.” Or, call the Texas Department of Transportation Wildflower Hotline, 800/452-9292.
