I added 3D flowers to my granddaughter's jumper by fusing the flower print to a plain background, then using coordinating threads (metallic blue for a bit of sparkle and a shiny brown) I satin stitched around the flowers, cut them out, then gathered them slightly and sewed them to the dress using coordinating buttons as the center of the flowers. Cute, easy way to add dimension to the jumper, but will wash well and endure the life of a first grader!

Quilting friends of mine often refer to their "UFOs" (UnFinished Objects)...I like this idea much better...so from now on, I'll be working hard to finish up my PhDs.
