WEEKEND INSPIRATION | FOXCROFT & GINGER (EC1)
When it comes to our favourite haunts in EC2, we normally prefer the walk from Liverpool Street to the overheard "mind the gap" at Old Street Station. So imagine our surprise, when we alighted on Saturday to discover not only cruffins at Foxcroft & Ginger but a distinctively revamped tube station.

WEEKEND INSPIRATION 01.03.2015: Regents Park Honey. Just like a true Londoner, the city's bees like to keep it local. Just ask the colony at Regents Park. Kept by Pure Honey’s Toby Mason, they have been producing some of London's finest for the last five years. This is a honey that changes with the seasons: you might detect elderflowers and limes during one season and roses, the next. It's rare for the bees to venture beyond the park, so what you taste is what has been in bloom.

LONDON POSTCARD | TALKHOUSE COFFEE  (W11)
WEEKEND INSPIRATION 23.02.2015: A relative newcomer to W11, Talkhouse Coffee is all that a good cafe should be. It offers a small but excellent selection of coffee. The staff are passionate, knowledgable and award-winning baristas, and there's a tempting selection of morsels to entice but not detract from the main event - the coffee.

WEEKEND INSPIRATION 19.10.2014: A perfect brunch hosted by Craved and Black Isle Bakery providing the ideal showcase for Ruth Barry's delectable buns - mushroom and tarragon (conjuring the earthiness of the forest) and smoked salmon with creme fraiche. Ally Pally from Wildes Cheese, Spalactic and Bermondsey Hard Pressed from Kappacasein with a serve of Brickhouse sourdough proved the perfect starter with Damson Jam by England Preserves.

WEEKEND INSPIRATION 25.102.14: SUNDAY MORNNG MARKET. This weekend's inspiration is in support of Chatsworth's Road local Rushmore Primary School market. It's a great community market with a great local spirit where you can find some great buys among the bric-a-brac stores as well as seasonal fruit and vegetables, organic meat, fish, homemade cakes, and artisan breads. We hope that we'll see the return of this Sunday market very soon.

WEEKEND INSPIRATION 02.11.2014: We have long been fans of the quirky aesthetic of James Ward but a return visit to his studio just off Brick Lane this weekend reminded us of just how fabulous these plates are. Our favourite - this delightfully urbane bear with a gourmand appetite. Jimbobart, 24 Cheshire St E2 6EH.

WEEKEND INSPIRATION 08.11.2014: We were delighted to discover Pistachio & Pickle Dairy - a store specialising in British artisan and world cheeses in Islington's Camden Passage this weekend. This is the perfect store - quaint, offering only a select offering of seasonal cheeses as well as pickles and chutneys, breads and biscuits including the truly moreish cheese toasties as pictured above.

MY LONDON: RUTH BARRY, BLACK ISLE BAKERY “Follow the road to the top of the hill, pass the tree house and the gorse bushes bumbling with bees. Keep the honeysuckle to your left" is the lyrical poetry that Ruth Barry uses to describe her Black Isle Bakery. Recalling the beauty and serenity of her early rural life, her bakes are based on “modern recipes mindful of original and season” that capture the seasons and the beauty of working with simple ingredients.

MY LONDON: RUTH BARRY, BLACK ISLE BAKERY In the far-reaches of the Highlands of Scotland is the peninsula known as the Black Isle, famed for its folklore and breathtaking beauty. Ruth Barry talks about the fusion of art and baking and her homage to the Black Isle with bakes that celebrate a very modern simplicity.

WEEKEND INSPIRATION 23.11.2014: Ohhh, baby it's cold outside and the best antidote for the seasonal blues is hot chocolate. So the promise of Sea Salt hot chocolate was too good to resist when I recently visited Paxton Chocolate, off Brick Lane.
