water those plants deep

Tomato plants like deep watering. This very practical and easy irrigation system will help your tomato plant get all the water it needs! Drill small to medium size holes into a 2 L plastic bottle and place it into the soil, very close to the tomato plant root. Make sure that the bottle mouth is left outside! In this way, rain water or the water that you pour into the bottle goes directly around the root and is not wasted in the case of a really dry soil.
Tomato plants like deep watering. Why waste water when you can make a simple reservoir delivery system. Great idea. The photo says it all. Guess I should be saving those plastic water bottles for my garden.

I have a ton of old flower pots . . . could do this. (-: With little palm trees?? Must be something that doesn't need a lot of water, or close to a hose. Clay pot flower tower! :) (Feb. '12)
ooo! Pretty garden idea! Use a strong garden stake, or a piece of rebar from your home and garden store. Get several clay pots (with single drainage hole at bottom). Slide the biggest pot onto stake, tilt until the side touches the stake. Repeat tilting opposite way every other pot.
Terracotta flower tower
Great idea for an herb garden! Get a long, sturdy dowel (metal or wood) and a variety of clay pots with drain holes. Run the dowel through the pots, tilt them as you fill with soil and let gravity hold them in place, plant seeds or seedlings fill with alyssum or any flowing plant
Stack of Flower Pots Use a strong garden stake, or a piece of rebar from your home and garden store. Get several clay pots, the kind with the hole in the center of the bottom. Start at ground level with the biggest pot. Tilt it until the side touches the stake. Repeat tilting opposite way every other pot. Fill pots with soil and your favorite plants! *Update: Best to use rebar – (for strength) and hammer it into the ground- you don’t want your pots leaning or falling over.*
Neat herb garden idea - Potting Tree. Weave the pole through the watering hole in the bottom of each Terra Cotta pot. Fabulous.

How to antique and grow moss pots (Tutorial) Adding Moss Works Best On Terra Cotta Stone or Concrete Containers Stone or Concrete Sculptures There are 2 ways to go about doing this. Both ways work really well, so choose one that best suits your tastes. Moss requires an acidic environment to grow, which can be developed by painting a pot with buttermilk or yogurt, that's why both recipes below have one or the other. Recipe 1: Collect mosses either from around your yard or a friends or neighbors (you can also buy moss spores at a garden store) Finely chop the moss up (or sprinkle in the moss spores into the mix below if you purchased them) Allow the moss bits to dry up for a couple of days (if you collected them yourself) Then mix together in a large bucket or bowl: 1 cup flour 2 cups buttermilk 2 packages active dry yeast 2 tablespoons corn syrup 1-1 1/2 cups dried, crumbled moss Once the above is mixed together, put the bucket in full sun for three days. When the mixture is good and smelly, brush it generously with a paintbrush on the outsides of your clay pots. Then wrap the pots in plastic wrap and put them in partial sun. In two weeks the pots will start to grow mold, and by eight weeks the pots will be nice and furry with moss, and looking very antique and old. Recipe 2: Blend pieces of dried moss or purchased moss spores into 2 cups yogurt or buttermilk Paint onto your pot with a paintbrush Put your pot into a plastic bag to create a humid environment for the moss to develop Set the pot and bag in a cool, shady spot until the moss begins to form, which will be about 10 days Make sure to plant the container so you will be watering it regularly, which will keep the moss alive and growing

Pebble flower pot 1. Use small tin pail. Make drain holes in the bottom. 2. Next, apply base (we used interior ready-made mortar). Apply about 0.4-0.6 mm thick 3. Place the mesh grid. Push it a little to the mix to help stones sit evenly across the surface. Begin laying stones. 4. When you have placed the stones around the whole surface, let it dry completely. 5. After dry, mix grout to fill the holes between the stones. Remove excess grout after drying by using washcloth soaked in water.
