Nayeli Gomez, Blue Tie ‘20, is in the Health Careers Program. Not only is Nayeli a strong student, she’s an impressive artist, a wonderful friend, and a very generous soul. She is always helping a sister-Blue Tie, sister-Belle, or her own sister and family. She is fun-loving and enthusiastic which makes it great to have her around for any activity. Gold Tie ‘18, Jacqueline Gonzalez, was the recipient of The Christian Service Award for Catholic Schools LA at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels yesterday. Jackie sets the example of serving #thedearneighbor by volunteering at her former elementary school, Nativity School. She has put in 668 hours helping run the sports program there. What a great role model you are, Jackie!!! Congratulations!

Kayla Harley-Porche, Blue Tie ‘20, won a Lions Club Student Speech Contest for the Southern Region Zone B on Saturday. The topic of the speech was "Integrity and Civility Play What Role in Today's Society". We are proud of Kayla and all of our Belles who have been working on their public speaking and communication skills with Toastmasters International!
Giuliana Toscano, Red Tie '19, is a hard working student with great dedication to her studies taking 3 AP classes this year! Demilynn Vazquez, Green Tie '21, is in the Engineering Career Path Program and earned a 4.5 GPA her first semester at SMA! We asked Demi why she chose engineering: “I engineer because I have been taught that women of distinction must serve the dear neighbor. As a woman of distinction, God’s calling for me is to engineer in order to make the world a better place for 'All things are possible through Christ who strengthens me' (Philippians 4:13).”
Imani McGregory, Red Tie ’19, is our #belleoftheweek! Imani has been hard at work demonstrating academic strength in our Health Careers Program with a GPA well over 4.0. Along with strong academic success, Imani is a starting shooting guard for SMA’s Varsity Basketball team averaging 13 points per game, giving true meaning to the term scholar athlete. Imani and her team prepare for playoffs this week after solidifying a Camino Real League Championship going undefeated with a record of 8-0.
Gold Tie ‘18, Alani Perkins, was voted Belles & Beaux Winter Formal Queen and for good reason. Alani is an active member in National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and is secretary/ treasurer of Student Leadership Council! On top of that she also runs track. It’s no wonder she won “best smile” since she offers to help in any way she can and always has a smile on her face when doing so. Thanks for all you do at SMA! #belleoftheweek
Gold Tie ‘18, Sydney Addison, earned #belleoftheweek for her service to the dear neighbor. Over winter break, she traveled to Houston,TX on a mission trip with the youth group from her church to help those effected by Hurricane Harvey! During that week, she volunteered at Houston Food Bank and Bread of Life. She helped make over 100 laundry bags full of snacks, over the counter medicine, canned goods, and toilet paper for people that lined up in 30 degree weather to receive donations.
Congratulations to Alexis Cortez, Red Tie '19, for being accepted into Ryman Arts! Alexis is one of 137 new students that were accepted into this competitive program. Ryman Arts is one of the nation’s top youth arts programs, offering intensive out-of-school studio art instruction, college and career counseling, art supplies, and support services-all at no cost to the student. #belleoftheweek

Kimberly Perez, Red Tie earned by going above and beyond with her final project in ceramics. She created a life size bust inspired by an Italian marble sculpture viewed during our field trip to LACMA in early December. We have such creative Belles!
