~Did you know that cornmeal is birth control for seeds? Sprinkle it on your garden and it will keep weed seeds from germinating and growing into plants. Of course, cornmeal will keep any seed from germinating, so don’t try this on your vegetable garden until your plants are established and you’ve finished planting seeds~

Just flatten a banana peel and bury it under one inch of soil at thebase of a rosebush. The peel's potassium feeds the plant and helps itresist for tomato plants too.

Tips for growing colorful Coleus plants

Eggshells make a wonderful, organic pesticide. Works to kill Japanese beetles, flea beetles, snails, slugs, and other pests in the garden. And it's FREE!

FYI: Male or female? Flip the peppers over to check their gender. The ones with four bumps are female. The ones with three bumps are male. The female peppers are full of seeds. You can save yourself some money by getting the males. Who knew?!

Plant chives among roses to prevent black spot, drive away Japanese beetles, and provide aphids a more tempting source of food.

Self made Miracle Grow. Put Epsom salts and sugar into each hole with your plant. It makes them grow larger, leafier and greener, use about 1 Tablespoon in a 1 to 1 ratio but I don’t really measure it. You can also dissolve 1 Tablespoon into a gallon of water and use it to water your plants, trees, fruit trees, roses, flowering plants, squash,... all veggies. If you have already planted I would sprinkle around the plant and water it well

Clematis Paniculata - lightly fragrant flowers in late summer, Sweet Autumn Clematis (aka C. terniflora), becomes a silvery mass of fluffy seed heads in the fall. This hardy climber is a rampant grower that can reach to 30ft, but can easily be kept in check by cutting stems back to 12in in spring. It blooms on the current year's growth, and unlike many Clematis, it will thrive and bloom well in partial shade.

Cityline hydrangeas have tight sturdy stems and require no pruning for more flowers in the coming summer. Intense colors will "pop" in your garden. The flowers age quite nicely into fall as well.

"White Feathers" Hosta- Comes up white in the spring and turns a super pale green in the summer.
