Steve Perry: This was taken while I was perched about 3 feet from the edge of a fairly steep cliff on the edge of Lake Superior. The wind snarled and the waves filled the air with a roar that had to be experienced to be believed.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan hugs more than 40 miles of Lake Superior -- the largest, deepest, coldest, and most pristine of all the Great Lakes. Explore Pictured Rocks' towering multicolored sandstone cliffs, miles long sparkling beaches, dashing waterfalls, a huge area of sand dunes, and inland lakes and streams. This dramatic shot of the Lakeshore was taken near Miner's Beach as a storm passed through the area at sunrise. Photo by Steve Perry (www.sharetheexperience.org).
