Here it is mid May and the Fringe tree (Chionanthus virginicus) is producing it's long fringe like flowers. Soon the air will be scented by its sweet perfume. Imagine this Native tree at maturity around 18 feet high & wide and full of flowers. Wants to be multi-stem but can be trained into a single stem.

Redbuds are popping now. Love a good moist soil and a little wind protection.

Hooray spring is here and the redbuds are beginning to pop! This one is Melot and its leaves will remind you of a glass of Merlot. Luscious burgundy leaves keep their color better than any other redbud out there, no greening in the middle of summer.

This is our favorite white dogwood. Better structure than most, it is fully branching. And a profuse bloomer. Fall color is outstanding too.
