Polish shingles via Year of Mud
This is mighty impressive roof work from Zakopane, Poland. This building specifically is a hotel in a ski resort town near the Tatra mountains. I keep going back to look at this image to wonder who had the patience to lay those wooden shingles out so beautifully and precisely. Anyway, this image is a good […]

I really want to build a witch hut on my land deep in the forest and I won't tell my kids about it. And when they do find it I'll freak out and tell them never to go back there because that's where the witch lives. It will really be my art studio so naturally when they go at night to see the "witch", they'll find that it was me!!! Hahahhaha!!

Illusion: To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the “Arts and Nature Trail” program, artist Gaelle Villedary installed a long grass carpet across the village of Jaujac in France. The green trail required 168 rolls and runs for 420 meters (1,377 feet). (Photo © David Monjou) http://illusion.scene360.com/art/27405/it-is-not-the-yellow-brick-road/

Rolling out the Green Carpet. Jaujac, France, by french Artist Gaëlle Villedary. The path weaves throughout the town, like a yellow brick road. Lovely.
The beautiful town of Jaujac, France recently became part of an art installation designed by Marseille-based artist Gaëlle Villedary. A visionary design made out of 168 rollers of grass attempts to connect the inhabitants with the surrounding nature. This display of grass cannot be ignored, as it runs through the village leading to the city center. Undulating down the hill and marking the middle of the pedestrian trails, the Green “Red Carpet” - Tapis rouge! - installation stretches along 1,...

As Charles Dickens described it, "... a very old house bulging out over the road ... leaning forward trying to see who was passing on the narrow pavement below ..." The Luminarie De Cagna is an imposing cathedral-like structure that was recently on display at the 2012 Light Festival in Ghent, Belgium. The festival was host to almost 30 exhibitions including plenty of 3D projection mapping, fields of luminous flowers, and a glowing phone booth aquarium, however with 55,000 LEDs and towering 28 meters high the Luminarie De Cagna seems to have stolen the show.

Lori Nix is chief architect and urban planner of her own little ghost town, founded in 2005 and known as The City. The City has a library, a botanic garden, a church, a bar, and even a laundromat—almost everything a proper metropolis needs, except for people. Nix’s highly detailed dioramas are meticulously crafted by hand, out of foam, wood, paper, plastic, and found materials, but they show a world in decay, where nature is once again taking over.
Beautiful Dioramas of Abandoned Places by Artist Lori Nix, "She has devoted her whole apartment to making doll's house size models with bits and pieces of post-apocalyptic destruction"
- Lori Nix, The Library, 2007, Photograph of diorama, from The City Series. Oh, a post-apocalyptic library diorama. There could likely be nothing more pleasing to me than the image of trees growing out of the paper house of a library. And it’s a diorama. Which makes it even more wonderful and terrible. It reminds me of this photo, of the amazing old “Main Building” of the Public Library of Cincinnatti, taken in 1874. The building seen below closed in 1955. The library had ...
What an amazing Internet treasure! This looks just like the high school library I am teacher librarian for! Well, maybe kind of like this! We do have a Book Fair going now with a construction paper palm tree in the center. The "tree of knowlege" sends strong roots throughout each library! Thanks, dream library #library
