Hark when the night is falling...Hear! Hear the pipes are calling...Loudly and proudly calling...Down thro' the glen...There where the hills are sleeping...Now feel the blood a-leaping...High as the spirits of the old Highland men...

On Christmas day in Scotland, people make big bonfires and dance around them, playing the bagpipes. Traditionally, Christmas was celebrated very quietly, because the Church of Scotland frowned upon riotous festivities. Nowadays, Scots generally have their big celebrations on New Year's Eve, rather than Christmas, and this event is called Hogmanay.
