3rd Grade Thoughts: Day 1: Being Bucket Fillers

When someone is doing something they shouldn't be, instead of calling them out, ring the bell and draw attention to someone who WAS on task. (She gives a tally.) Makes everyone aware they are being watched without hurting feelings.

Whole class management tool- when the class works together, they get a piece to a puzzle. When the puzzle is complete, they earn a reward!

Strategy: During independent practice, to indicate how they are doing, students slide one of three color cards to the top so the teacher can see clearly who needs help.

Great to have children in class fill these out so they have to think about what they did and the effects/consequences.

Calm Down Spot? Rain Bottle -fill a dry empty bottle with a box of toothpicks. Add rice (uncooked) to the bottle leaving an empty space of about 1 1/2 inches at the top. Seal the lid. As you gently turn the bottle, the rice falls through the toothpicks, sounding like rain.

Could be a grouping students tool for the classroom. Edible Make-a-Match game! Use kisses and garage sale dot stickers.
