Highlights from the 2015 Nat Geo Traveler Photo Contest

The Aurora - The Norwegian photographer Terje Sørgjerd spent 7 days in Finnmark - the most northern part of mainland NORWAY - in temperatures as low as -25 Celsius/ - 13 Fahrenheit to make this short and stunning. This is where I live:o)

Trollkirka, the Troll church, is an exciting marble and limestone cave in the mountains near Molde / NORWAY. The main cave is about 70 m long and leads into a waterfall that falls into a white marble bowl. The waterfall is 12m high and daylight from above brightens the marble bowl. There is a second cave and a small marble lake, too. It takes a steep 30-60min walk from the parking lot up to the cave.

More Than A Thousand Muslims Form Human Shield Around Norwegian Synagogue After Copenhagen Attacks. This made me proud of being Norwegian in the sense that we must be doing something right to create a desire to bridge the gap caused by the past decades of terror.

Norway Presents: Flagception! I don't know who discovered these flags within the Norwegian one, and when it comes to colours it's definitely off in some of the flags, but I find it funny, and kind of clever anyway. Ps. The French white flag is the Ancien Régime one where white represented purity.

The Monkfish, or Breiflabb in Norwegian, has had many less flattering names in Norwegian due to its not so handsome looks and the thought that it could not be used as food. These days we know different, it may be scary looking, but it's delicious to eat.

Two men fishing for herring in a Norwegian fjord found they had unwelcomed competition from humpback whales.

Rugged mountains. They are not very high, but challenging to climb. Reine in Lofoten, NORWAY

The hill where you find the bicycle escalator is ridiculously steep and I can confirm from experience that it's a brilliant invention!
