Tri-County Crime Stoppers / Tri-County Crime Stoppers was founded on November 1, 1981. The original start-up funds came from the Mary and Susan Reker murder reward. Their murders remain unsolved as of this date.

Tri-County Crime Stoppers serves the Minnesota Counties of Stearns, Benton, Sherburne. These counties comprise 2,121 square miles of central Minnesota. It runs from Brooten in the west to Elk River in the east, and from Rice in the north to Kimball in the south.

Dairyland Trail / The Dairyland Trail runs about eight miles from Greenwald to Elrosa, and includes trailheads in Elrosa and Greenwald. The trail will ultimately run through western Stearns County from Albany through New Munich, Greenwald and Elrosa to Brooten on the former Canadian Pacific Soo Line rail corridor.

Maple Syrup Operation Tours

Maple Syrup Operation Tours / Visitors can get tours of the sugar shack, the pump station and the different methods used to collect sap in the woods.  There are approximately 1,400 taps on a tubing and vacuum pump system – the only system of this kind in Stearns County – as well as 200 buckets used to collect tree sap. A wood-fired evaporator is used to boil the 16,000 gallons of sap into 400 gallons of pure maple syrup.

Wildfire Safety Training / A multi-agency wildfire training exercise took place on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Stearns County’s Quarry Park and Nature Preserve.  The Minnesota DNR Forestry Division conducted the training for about 40 students who will be new to the wildfire line. These groups respond to an average of 200 – 210 wildfires a year in Minnesota. They are also the baseline for national mobilization as well, and do assist in fighting wildfires around the country.

Breakfast on the Farm is an annual event held to educate people of all ages about where their food comes from. In addition to the hands-on learning and a good breakfast, there are guided tours of the farm, an obstacle course for children, petting zoo with baby farm animals, horse-drawn wagon rides, live radio shows, and ice cream cones and cheese served by a Dairy Princess.

A future goal is to re-establish native plant communities throughout the park. The Park is open year round from 6 AM to 11PM; Shelters are open 8 AM to 10 PM

Wind Farm / Staff from Stearns County’s Environmental Services Dept attended the "Blade-Signing Ceremony" for the Black Oak Getty wind project that is being built near Padua/Sauk Centre. This is the first wind farm going up in Stearns County. The huge 39 wind turbines, like those in southern MN and Iowa, will generate enough electricity to power 32,000 MN homes!  
At peak, 250 people are working construction on the project, which will be completed in late 2016.
