In August and September 2011 I had the pleasure to be in Alberta Canada. Starting from Calgary we first went East to explore the high prairie and the badlands then west into the mountains.
buffalo jump (and tourist attraction) - the natives used to chaise herds of bison off these cliffs
and there are a lot of them
In addition to oil there is a lot of wind on the prairie and a lot of huge windmills
On our way back to Calgary we tool the "Cowboy Trail" which used to be a real cowpunch trail - Calgary was a big cow town - now they make movies here.
Back in Lake Louise Kitty poses with the local Constabulary.
the throng of paparazzi looking for bear. later we pulled over by the side of the road as a joke. Within a minute twenty other cars had pulled over too looking for wildlife.
On the way back to Lake Louise we saw lots of wild life. Here two mountain goats sunning themselves and chewing their cud.
now a really run down rooming house
the old west lives
these are huge - notice the man sized door at the base of the nearest tower. The blades must be 150 feet long
these guys were not very happy with us
Give me a home where the buffalo roam (in a feed lot) and the sky's are all windy all day
a few, a very few, people live here too
