How to cut herbs - for basil don't pluck leaves off, instead trim stem. Leave two sets of leaves on stem (leaves grow in pairs across from each other). Cut immediately above the second set of leaves from the ground. Plant will then grow new branches from this cut.../

Done in 5 minutes - Easy way to have herbs in the kitchen! Line the bottom of a mason jar with glass beads or marbles, then layer in potting mix, and then add the plant, and top with more glass beads. The photo shows Alyssum and Rosemary - and while Alyssum may seem like an odd choice for an "herb garden" it would be pretty in a kitchen, and does well with irregular watering - always important!
