Fred's work ranges from jewelry to holloware and flatware, to liturgical objects. He is at ease with gold but works more often in sterling or pewter. Recently retired after 43 years of teaching at UW Madison, Fred shaped several generations of American metalsmiths to approach their work with professionalism and skill. Fred is very active on the workshop circuit, usually teaching hollowware or pewter techniques.

Fred Fenster trained at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and works in gold, silver and pewter. His primary interests are in designing functional hollowware for the home and ceremonial pieces for church, synagogue and special occasions.
