Boilerman - Tomasz Armatowski
Steampunk Art, Steampunk Dieselpunk, Steampunk Robots, Steam Punk, Steampunk Gadgets, Future Steampunk, Victorian Steampunk
Boilerplate was a mechanical man developed by Professor Archibald Campion during the 1880s and unveiled at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Built in a small Chicago laboratory, Boilerplate was a prototype soldier built for "preventing the deaths of men in the conflicts of nations". Boilerplate was a technological milestone that remains largely unknown.
Robot Sam, as his creator Edward Lind (above) dubbed him in 1893, was the first American robot to be produced as a potential ‘working man.’ Amazingly versatile and capable of independent decision-making, Sam was also the 1st to feel the backlash of the public’s inherent distrust of mechanical anthropomorphism. Attempts to ‘humanize’ Lind's creation with public demonstrations erupted more than once in rioting."The Advent of the Mechanical Man-1890-1920"
The Mysterious Boilerplate, a Victorian Era Robot - GoRobotics - Boilerplate, the fictional robot created by artist Paul Guinan, now has a robolicious coffee-table book called Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel. Featuring historic scenes from the 19th and 20th century, we see Boilerplate’s military prowess as he fights along-side military giants like Teddy Roosevelt and Pancho Villa. The book’s “trailer” is hilarious and worth a watch (after the jump.)
Boilerman by Tomasz Armatowski I would say an early form of steam punk
