Such a simple thing, but a little hand painted stone (painted by you of course!) could be such a gift from the heart and costs next to nothing! (nothing if you already have a bit of acrylic paint and a brush)
I love this knit stitch. Cast on multiples of 4. Knit all right side (odd) rows. Row 2 and 4: p1k3 across. Row 6 and 8: k2, *p1k3 across to end, end with p1k1. Repeat 8 rows for pattern. Or for Row 6 and 8, start with a k1 and end with p1k2.
Linen stitch. Even number stitches. Row 1: knit, yarn front, slip stitch as purl, yarn back, knit, repeat. Row2: purl, yarn back, slip stitch as purl, yarn front, purl, repeat to end of row. Repeat rows to complete work.
