Casa Batlló by Antoni Gaudi, Barcelona Spain. 1904-6
Antoni Gaudi - Barcelona, Catalonia Casa Batlló, is a building restored by Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol, built in the year 1877 and remodelled in the years 1904-1906; located at 43, Passeig de Gràcia (passeig is Catalan for promenade or avenue), part of the Illa de la Discòrdia in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Spain. The local name for the building is Casa dels ossos (House of Bones), and indeed it does have a visceral, skeletal organic quality. It was originally designed for a middle-class family and situated in a prosperous district of Barcelona...The building looks very remarkable -- like everything Gaudí designed, only identifiable as Modernisme or Art Nouveau in the broadest sense. The ground floor, in particular, is rather astonishing with tracery, irregular oval windows and flowing sculpted stone work.

New York City’s Hidden Subway Station. Deep in the belly of New York’s subway system, a beautiful untouched station resides that has been forgotten for years with only a limited few knowing of its existence. Stunning decoration with tall tiled arches, brass fixtures and skylights run across the entire curve of the station, almost a miniature imitation of Grand Central Station. It was opened in 1904, however the station was closed and boarded up in 1945.

City Hall Train Station, Manhattan: If you ride the 6 train to the end of the line and get off at the Brooklyn Bridge stop, you're missing out on something incredible. As the train loops around to go back uptown, it passes through an abandoned and beautifully preserved City Hall station from 1904.The station is still not open to the public, Until recently the MTA would force passengers to get off before the train made the loop, but now passengers are allowed to stay on.
Opened in 1904 and designed by Rafael Guastavino, the City Hall subway station was intended to be the crown jewel of the original New York City subway line. The station was closed in 1945 and has remained that way to date. Originally, commuters were required to disembark at the Brooklyn Bridge station before the train made its way back uptown. In recent years, passengers have been permitted to remain on the train while it passes through this stunning and historic station.
The forgotten City Hall station was the original terminal of New York's subway system. Abandoned: The City Hall subway station was unexpectedly closed to the public a mere 41 years after it opened its doors in 1904. The station features stained glass windows, skylights and brass chandeliers.

CICADA It can be hard to find an escape in the middle of a bustling city, but that is exactly what the Cicada installation provides. Located in the city of Taipei, Cicada is focused on the natural elements of life. The installation was designed by Marco Casagrande, an architect from Finland. Surrounded by concrete, cement and rocks, Cicada is like a breath of fresh air among its industrial setting. The art piece is made out of bamboo to give its structure ample room to breathe, while the subtle slits also allow natural light to stream into the installation itself.
