Free: Kalapana Lava Viewing Area - located at the end of Highway 130 in the Puna District. Dazzling vantage point to see molten lava. Conditions change daily but you'll be awed by the fury of roaring steam nad wxploding lava gushing from the black lava plain into the roiling ocean, adding more and more land to the Big Island.

The Kapoho Kalapana Road, also known as the Red Road, travels along the coastline of the lower Puna district on the Big Island. It is one of the most scenic roads in the state of Hawaii. Located in a remote and sparsely populated area just south of Pahoa village, this road takes you through some of the most spectacular scenery reminiscent of the old Hawaii of yesteryear.
