In 2014, Sunrise received an “Outstanding” rating on our Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) regulator examination, demonstrating our dedication to meeting the credit needs of our entire community, including low-and-moderate-income neighborhoods.

Through community partnerships, Sunrise staff facilitated financial literacy training to 160 individuals throughout 2014. Sunrise Banks also continues to offer Financial Choice, a financial counseling and budgeting service through Lutheran Social Services, to all of its customers and employees for free.

Sunrise was awarded with a $38 Million New Markets Tax Credit allocation by the Community Development Financial Institution Fund to spur new or increased investments into low-income communities. Two projects, Twin Cities Public Television and Seward Community Co-op, have received funds from our allocation to spur investment in severely distressed Twin Cities communities.

Sunrise’s Socially Responsible Deposit Fund (SRDF) allows any deposit account to be used for positive change in our community. SRDF funds are leveraged to make loans that benefit our community, such as affordable housing development, non-profit organizations, and small business lending.

Philanthropy and social impact are driving forces behind Sunrise Banks. In 2014, employees at every level of the company joined in to create positive change across the community. Whether it be a food drive, or proceeds from our coffee shop program called Park Perks, Sunrise and Sunrise staff use business to make a difference.
