Happy Holidays from Susiehyer Studio Winter came on fast and furious here in Evergreen, as I wound down my plein air season and travels. Really cold temps and snow continues as we get ready for the holidays and 2015 comes to a close. There is much to celebrate and be thankful for. The past summer and fall brought new events, new friends, new locations to paint, new painting opportunities, some new galleries, and of course, lots of new paintings.

Just worked on this a little more after it came back from the Lone Tree Arts Center show.. I figure if its in my studio, it's fair game if I see something I want to do. I wanted to add a bit more color to this in the purple-yellow range. Lovers Lookout, 28x29, oil on birch panel

Hot off the easel, this is for my Tucson collector. It took me a year to get this done. I wanted to make a bunch of desert studies first to kind of get familiar with my reference material and the paintings I did last March down there first and every time I started to get on it, another trip was looming large that I had to get ready for .....

Just SOLD this to a collector from Tucson. It will be hanging with some large Don Sahli paintings and a huge one by Allan Wolton, I'll be in good company. I am so stoked, this only came off the easel a couple weeks ago. I am having a blast with these!

An article on nocturns appears in the May issue of Plein Air magazine(pg 49-52). Thanks to Plein Air for including my image of Metro Lights #2 , (20x20 oil on birch panel), in this very nice article. I am in company with other painter friends Cecy Sutherland Turner, Ralph Oberg, Josh Elliott, and Jill Hartley
