carole-lombard-3.jpg 1,600×1,571 pixels. Carole Lombard was spotted by a film director in 1920 at 12 years of age and appeared in a film and then joined a theatre troupe until she was signed by Fox in 1924. Her career centred round a number of short films and when sound came along she moved painlessly into that medium. She moved from 75 dollars a week to 18000 a week, earning a nomination for her work in My Man Godfrey with William Powell whom she married. After their amicable divorce she went on to choose the films she worked in and became the highest earner in the late 1930s. She married Clarke Gable in 1939 but was killed in an air crash after a war bond tour.

Carole Lombard 1930s Look...
Carole Lombard in the 40's.
Carole Lombard in 1930s gown. When it came to wearing the liquid gowns of the period there was Lombard, and there was Harlowe, and everyone else a long, long way behind. Anyone under the silly misapprehension that 'the olden days' were staid and sexually laced up times and it took the mini skirt in the 60s to liberate the body needs only to look at a few glamour photos of these two. They were - magnificently - practically naked. Plus, Lombard was a wonderful actress.

Carole Lombard had iconic beauty her makeup was minimal yet sculpted to show of the curves of her lips and cheekbones (highlighted powder foundation) curled lashes mascara, sculpted, narrow brow lines.
Carole Lombard - (1908-1942) born Jane Alice Peters. Film actress of screwball comedies. Highest paid star in the 1930's. Enjoyed a "flapper" lifestyle and won several dance competitions. Married to actor Clark Gable. Cause of death: Plane crash at 33.
A beautiful & promising life cut short ... Carole Lombard ... beauty, brains, poise, humor, grace & moxie! She was a beautiful woman in spite of the scar that some thought would ruin her career! She showed them & even decades after her tragic death, she is still considered to be one of the most beautiful women ever! Shortly after her death, her husband, Clark Gable (who was inconsolable & devastated by his loss) joined the US Army Air Forces, as Lombard had asked him to after the US entered WWII
