If you wrap your celery in tin foil before placing it in the fridge it will last for weeks, and it will still be fresh and crisp when you pull it out! This also works for stored broccoli for 7 weeks wrapped in tin foil, and heads of lettuce for at least 6 weeks!!!
Make and Store a Salad that Will Stay Fresh and Crisp All Week Long. This trick of putting a paper towel in with your salad lettuce will keep it fresh all week long. The paper towel will absorb the moisture, which is the culprit for wilting lettuce.
save leftover guacamole without it turning brown. All you do is place the guac in the container and spray the top of guacamole with non stick cooking spray and place in the refrigerator. The next day the guacamole will still be green.
(from an e-mail I received) keep berries fresh longer: mix 1 part vinegar (white or apple cider) & 10 parts water. Swirl berries in the mix. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar,) and refridgerate. The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft. You're so "berry" velcome!
