Bookcase / Fireplace Combos

Trying to get ideas for a specific fireplace surround need... General bookshelves not with fireplaces are under "Bookshelves & Home Libraries."

"Built-In Beauties: A pair of tall, narrow bookshelves flank both sides of the fireplace in this spacious living room. The upper portion of the shelves is used to display books and other collectibles, while the lower part is outfitted with a cabinet to stow away games, DVDs, and more. The brick fireplace surround adds a dash of rough, stony texture."

"Media Unit 002890, by usona. Media unit with white mat lacquer structure and bio alcohol burning fireplace in Silver Shine Stone. Sliding doors in white under painted glass."

From the poster: "The Caldwell Library at the school [in Maryland] where I work." -- Gorgeous.

Click-through post on the Phinney Home & Garden show provides lots of inspiration at the click-through, but this built-in bookcase/fireplace combo is my favorite.

Bookcase / fireplace combo featured on "Practically Polished: Designer Crush: Nightingale Design"

"Yellow Country Library" -- The lamps are SO unusual!

Can't seem to track this bookcase/fireplace combo to its original source, so simply pinning it for inspiration without further information.

"Rarefied Air" -- described as a "New York apartment, but in Dallas," this is the jaw-dropping library. Yes, please...I will stay in there for months...

This "tv above mantel (yellowcapecod)" is one of several bookcase/fireplace combinations in the post "9 Ways to Design Around a TV." -- Several others ideas may be found in the "Home, Media" board (

This is actually a vacation cottage for rent, but it was the bookcases against the tall wall that caught my attention.

"Halloween Giant Haunted Fireplace Window Decorations: Put a spooky fireplace on any wall!" -- Totally made me laugh -- if you don't have your own fireplace/bookcase combo, then stick it up on your wall!

Though Fox Hill Village is a residential facility rather than a private home, I like the look of this bookcase/fireplace combination by Siemasko + Verbridge...

I like the simplicity of the plain ladder for access (in this room, anyway) and I like that I can see another bookcase in the next room! From "desire to inspire -- Down on the farm" -- see another room from this house here:

"9 Ways to Design Around a TV" -- From "curating around it," to hiding it, to camouflaging it, to flaunting it; with two or three shots to illustrate each. Great inspirations!

"The library of fashion designer and art collector Kasper’s Manhattan apartment is clad in a teal silk wall covering, which is complemented by a green faux-marble fireplace surround with stainless-steel trim..." [From "20 Inspiring Green Rooms"]

"city traditional living room," by Duncan Consultants -- I'm intrigued by the drapes that obviously cover the door when they're closed....

"Portfolio traditional living room," by Cynthia Mason Interiors -- Those bookcase lamps are showing up in a lot of library shelving.

"Whisky colored, knotty pine library in a $ 20-mil duplex on Park Avenue..." -- Looooong room!

Lovely wall color, bookcase, and art....

Have to agree with the poster: "Lightness and library heaven"

"Sheathed knotty pine ceiling contrasts with the striped rug on the floor in this beautiful emerald den at the Jagdgut Wachtelhof, the fabulous new ski lodge hotel in Hinterthal, Austria, an hour outside of Salzberg." -- I'm loving the framed raised bookcases with the banquettes below...

"Chalky hydrangea walls and ceiling beams combine perfectly with deep cream drapes and hot pink bergeres."

Pinning for the fireplace/bookcase, but (no surprise!), it's from a post about "Valentines Day Mantel {Easy Decorating}"
