Traffic jam at Mt Everest: 150 climbers in a line try to scale summit - What's On Xiamen
Danger in numbers: climbers form a line to head for the summit of Everest on May 19 - Dying to get there: the perils of adventure travel, a middle-age obsession
Traffic jam at 30,000 feet: Chilling photo shows bottleneck on Mount Everest as dozens of climbers try to reach summit on weekend when four died
Bottleneck to Everest. (That thin little like that looks like ants). When you think of climbing Mt. Everest you don't think of such an assembly line. At least four people died last weekend from this kind of bottlenecking slowing things down, and pressing on when they were warned not to by sherpas.
Everest queue, if ya think Everest is a remote and untouched wonderland that takes the mountain climber to an upper echelon of status based on technical prowess and resiliance, you got it wrong. I'd like to see these peeps start going without sherpas and stop destroying this mountain already. Next stop Disneyland.

It's like a scene from a movie; the expression on everyone's faces, the lighting...
A controversial photograph by Thomas Hoepker of the only 9/11 the world knows. I find the contrast painfully beautiful.

The conclusion sums up what I think of that picture: “the meaning of this photograph is that memories fade fast. The people in the foreground are us. #september11
The Idea is That People Should Look A Certain Way in the Face of Tragedy
9/11 – Thomas Hoepker « Iconic Photos
German photographer Thomas Hoepker's photo, which he did not publish for 5 years, shows Americans kicking back while 911 towers burn in distance. He held back from releasing the photos for obvious reasons.http://www.smashinglists.com
Thomas Hoepker is a German born photographer and member of Magnum Photos. On September 11, 2001, Hoepker was in New York when the World Trade Center was attacked. Hoepker captured hundreds of photos of the destruction, but one stands out. The photograph shows a collection of Americans relaxing and enjoying a conversation while the Twin Towers burn in the background.
I've tried to make this kind of image several times, with much less success. Raindrops, lights, the night, a simple recipe for wonderful scenes.
