A stone head that was found “somewhere in the Guatemalan jungle” and, soon after its discovery, disappeared. The photo above was taken in the 1950s by the man who owned the land the head was located on, but after he died, the mysterious structure faded back into obscurity. While the head is theorized to potentially be an anomaly of the Olmec stone heads (it does not match their aesthetic), some think it could possibly be a remnant of a yet undiscovered culture.

Over half a century ago, deep in the jungles of Guatemala, a gigantic stone head was uncovered. The face had fine features, thin lips and large nose and its face was directed up at the sky.

Workmen hacking through the dense jungle of Costa Rica to clear an area for banana plantations in the 1930s stumbled upon some incredible objects: dozens of stone balls, many of which were perfectly spherical. They varied in size from as small as a tennis ball to an astonishing 8 feet in diameter and weighing 16 tons! Although the great stone balls are clearly man-made, it is unknown who made them, for what purpose and, most puzzling, how they achieved such spherical precision.

Then he and his party vanished, giving rise to what has been described as "the greatest exploration mystery of the 20th…

Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett is my history crush because he is, in essence, awesomeness incarnate. During the Great War, he directed artillery striked via ouija board, and arrested Winston Churchill.
