Trick to avoid a line on your paper at the edges of the folder when using the smaller Cuttlebug embossing folders.
tip for using small or border embossing folders without leaving that annoying line from the edge of the folder
Great tips for using the small square embossing folders and embossing borders! (read later)
There is a trick to using these smaller Cuttlebug folders, or for that matter, border embossing folders. If you have tried, you know that you often get a line on your paper at the edge of the folder - its very unattractive. Both edges of the folder can leave that line, but the edge of the folder that is the last part through the Cuttlebug is by far the worst. So...place your folder, roll into the Cuttlebug just until the folder disappears into the roller and then back it back out. Do NOT...

I want to thank all of you for participating in our "Get it Together" Organizational Mission for 2011! I hope that our posts have inspired you and that your scrap spaces and supplies have transformed over the last 8 weeks! For our last post, I thought it would be good to share a few ideas that will aid you in keeping up with what you have (reference swatches)! Here are few that have been helpful for me: When organizing your Cuttlebug or Sizzix embossing folders consider making yourself a Reference Tag swatch book. It is a great way to see all the fabulous folders you own at a glance!…especially helpful when you’re working on a creative project and don’t want to take the time to go through every folder that you own. Simply flip through your tags … it will save you so much time! Also, you can see the positive and negative image of each folder by looking at the reverse side of the tag. Here’s another great tip…take your Swatch Book with you on your next shopping trip to help you remember which embossing folders you already have in your collection! Follow these simple steps to create your own Cuttlebug Swatch Book: 1. Die cut a tag shape out of scraps of cardstock. 2. Emboss each individual tag with the embossing folders that you own. 3. Place all of your embossed tags on a binder ring. 4. Tie a few colorful ribbons on the ring just for fun! Here is another great idea...Consider making yourself a Reference Swatch Book for your Distress Ink Pads. This is a great way to see the true colors and you can label them on the back with the name of the ink pad. These are really easy to create: 1. Grab some shipping tags (local office supply store or we carry them at the LBH) 2. Crumple the tag up in your hand and then lightly smooth out again 3. Rub your Distress Ink Pad over the wrinkles and crinkles all over the tag 4. Label the back with name of that specific color 5. Place on a binder ring for easy access You can also do a reference swatch for your other goodies...consider doing some for your Stickles , Chalk Inks, Mists, etc. Post a comment today on one of your favorite organizational ideas that we've shared over the last 8 weeks! I will choose one final lucky commenter next Monday for a VERY SPECIAL GRAND PRIZE! You will want to be sure your name is in this drawing!!!!! So Keep your comments Coming! Our winner from Week 7 is .... AMY CLICK Congratulations! Please contact the LBH to claim your prize! Have a Happy Monday! Miss Tracy :)

I am a bit OCD when it comes to organization and my craft room. By far, I get the most readers for my organization post I did forever ago now. I wanted to keep you updated with new things. I have always had a HUGE problem with paper scraps. Toss them? Keep them? If you do keep them, how will I find them to actually use them again. I was so sick and tired of cutting into a piece of card stock only to find a day later I had like 4 small scraps that would have worked fine. Enter my method for storing scraps. I have using this system almost since I did my big organization post. After I had all of the initial organization out of the way, I began to tackle the smaller (or larger in my case) problems that I couldn't find an easy solution for. Let me show you. This little cardboard magazine holder sits on the side of my desk right next to my stamps. I use plastic sheet protectors to store scraps. Each color of card stock has its own sheet protector. I wasn't sure when I started if the sheet protectors would stay stood up over time. But I can say after a year and a half, this is the photo I snapped of them the other day. Still going great. Here is a closer look so that you can really get a feel for how each color has its own "file". I pulled it apart so that you could see that the scraps just fall to the bottom of the sheet protector waiting to be used. Let me pull one out so that you can see how this is so useful to me. This is my Summer Sunrise scraps. I am diligent to place larger pieces to the back of the sheet protector and the smaller ones to the front. It honestly takes about 2 or 3 seconds longer to quickly arrange your scrap as you slide it in. I have also been using this system to keep my pattern papers with their respective color. I wasn't sure if it would work out or they would require their own sheet protector. However, I find it to work so well in my flow and set up. What makes this system work so well is that I can see at a glance what scraps I have available. If I need to cut a small butterfly, I can size it up before I reach in. I can also see at a glance if I have a piece that would work for a card base or not. It helps me to actually USE my scraps and keeps them under control. I hope you can glean something from my system. Isn't that what makes this so fun? Take a bit of what I do, add it something else, mixed with your own thoughts and you can come up with an amazing solution that really works well for you.

With Easter only a few weeks away, it has me wondering: Have you got all your bunnies in check? I’m referring to chocolate bunnies, sugar marshmallow bunnies, stuffed toy bunnies and even real bunnies if it will make your Easter weekend one to remember. And when you’re done “huntin’ for wabbits”, check out these two Easter decorating projects you can do with the kids: Candy Flower Cups Have the children make daffodil candy cups to welcome guests to the Easter festivities. This quick-and-easy craft project requires card stock, baking cups and jellybeans. Look for card stock, baking cups and jellybeans in colors like orange and yellow. Cut out a daffodil shape from the card stock and repeat this for as many daffodil candy cups as you’d like to make. Have the children fill the baking cups with candy. Glue the bottom of the baking cup to the center of the daffodil cutout. Place on top of countertops, use as table settings, or even use to lead the kids to the next scavenger hunt clue. Alternate Option: Not a fan of daffodils? Make tulips instead. Opt for purple and pink colored card stock and jelly beans in soft, pastel colors. Eggshell Easter Ornaments Easter egg ornaments can be hung from trees and bushes outside, or indoors from light fixtures and bouquets of flowers. Instead of boiling the eggs, empty out the egg yourself by poking a hole in it with a needle. Leave the needle instead the egg – the pearly end of the needle will mark the bottom of the ornament. If you have older children - the eggshells are far to sensitive for small children's hands - have them dye and embellish the eggshells with ribbon and trimmings. Once decorated, take some ribbon and fold it in half. Poke a pin through the two ends of the ribbon and secure to the top of the egg. This will act as the ornament hook. -S. Gonzalez *Photo courtesy of marthastewart.com
I'm working on the table setting for Easter brunch at my parent's house this weekend. This is what I've got so far: The green gingham tablecloth is something I pieced together using scraps of an old tablecloth my mom used for antique shows. It's got several seams from where I sewed the various pieces together but the gingham pattern really helps disguise that. The Waterford water and wine glasses are part of my mom's permanent collection - remember I used them here and here. The pretty white dishes are Shelley. They're on loan - mom's got them for sale in her booth. Now it's time to accessorize. Here are some of my favorite Easter table decoration ideas: I can't stand how cute these Sugar and Charm folded bunny napkins are. They're made from spray-starched square napkins. Better Homes and Gardens created an easy to follow video on how to make 'em - click here to watch it. I think it might take a while to make, but I love this Easter egg garland nonetheless. Per Better Homes and Gardens it's made by stringing together about three-dozen dyed eggs that have been blown-out. Details here. I think my sister Katy would really get a kick out of these monogrammed egg place cards by One Charming Party. After all, who doesn't love something personalized just for them? All you need is alphabet stickers and craft paint - details here. These cute daffodil candy cups by Martha Stewart would give me a good excuse to buy some jelly beans. They're made using cupcake liners and craft paper flower cut-outs - details here. This Marshmallow Peep Martini recipe from She Knows is intriguing but I'd be content to just have that cute Peep bunny garnish my water glass. Because I'm from DC, I can't not love this cherry blossom centerpiece by Aunt Peaches. It's made using a real tree branch and coffee filters - details here. I'm also really digging this magnolia napkin ring by Aunt Peaches. She made it from a paper plate - details here. Lots of ideas, not a lot of time. I'll be back early next week to show you how the Willis family Easter table turns out. In the meantime, I hope you have a really great weekend.
