DIY: "The best loft-ladder type that I've built was using two 2x8 stringers & premade 5/4x14 bullnosed stair treads you can get at Lowe's/HomeDepot. I then used Kreg pocket-screws to fasten it all together. I'd say I have about $65 in material & 1.5 hrs labor."
