World Book Encyclopedia Britannica. We had a set of these.
World Book Encyclopedia. We didn't have the internet in the 80s. Elementary school
Encyclopedias...This is where we did our research! And they cost a bundle. My gram bought a set so we would have them to use. Computer of the 70s
Me too!!!!!! These were our "Internet" - I remember the set of World Book Encyclopedias that my parents bought. I used them for many, many school reports and my Mom would always use them to look things up that we were discussing, just like we Google today.
Encyclopedias. These were our "Internet" and oh how I hated them so! We had about 70 on our shelf and it would take most of your homework time just trying to figure out which book the required information was in and oftentimes you still couldn't find anything very helpful! #Childhood Memories #1970s #1980s
THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW (1970-1977, CBS, USA; theme "Love Is All Around" by Sonny Curtis) This most critically acclaimed of '70s sitcoms lifted the "girl in the city" visual strategy motif from That Girl for its opening credits and this nifty tune suited it just fine. This version from the first season is smooth as butter. (KevinR@Ky)

The Mary Tyler Moore Show CBS 09/70 - 03/77 The show starred Mary Tyler Moore as Mary Richards, a single woman in her 30s, producing the 6 pm news at WJM, a Minneapolis tv station. The show also starred Lou Asner, Ted Knight, Valerie Harper (who would get her own spinoff, Rhoda), Gavin MacLeod, and Betty White.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show was influential during the 70s because it was about a woman who didn't need a man, and was strong and independent, having a job and being the owner of a house. Category: Culture

Revlon introduced Charlie this way in 1973. This was said to be the first time women were shown wearing pants in fragrance advertising. Within three years, Charlie became the top selling perfume in the nation.

This was my Mom's favorite perfume. She would regularly "bathe" herself in it before leaving the house.

Aprons - I made the white and blue polka dot apron - top left view - had to cut down the skirt multiple times to get something that would fit my petite "modern" daughter! LOL This is a FUN pattern, truly designed to go over those long full crinoline skirts of the 50s! I ended up with a modified version "retro look" that I will pin when I figure out how!
Throw it back old school. Thanks Meagan!

Vogue Misses Aprons Sewing Pattern V8643. I made the apron version drawn in yellow in this picture. I made it for one of my aunts out of a navy and white polka dot with white rickrack. It turned out very similar to the picture. The only thing I did differently was the fact that I felled the curved and open seams so that they would not ravel. It gave it a nice finished and top stitched look. I will definitely be making this one again.

Woolworth's luncheonette! grandma used to work at woolworths. loved the soda fountain :)
Woolworth's, and most drug stores had lunch counters, or at least soda fountains. I remember eating at both the Woolworth's and McCrory's lunch counters with my Grnadma.
"The dime store" went there with my grandma and had lunch at the soda fountain. Also got to pick out a "diamond ring" each time. I think they were 1.99!
