“Once there was a tree, and she loved a little boy. and she loved a boy very, very much-- even more than she loved herself.” “And the tree was happy” ~The Giving Tree Shel Silverstein

On rare occasions there comes along a profound original, an odd little book that appears out of nowhere, from the pen of some obscure storyteller, and once you have read it, you will never go completely back to where you were before.

Kids books can be so profound. This book reminds me of a beloved tree we lost a few years ago.

This is what my original set looks like. They were literally falling apart, so I bought a replacement set decades after my broke college student self had purchased the first set. I couldn't bear to part with the old ones though, so I still have them :-)
