There are a bunch of audio recordings of Aboriginal elders (from Blackfoot, Cree, Ojibway, Mohawk, and M'ikmaq nations) giving traditional teachings. It's an easy way to insert an authentic Aboriginal voice into a lesson.
Motivation to Read Flashlight Reading. Each student is given their own flashlight. The teacher turns out the lights and students use their flashlight to read independently. Some teachers do this once a week in their classroom to motivate students to read.
