Title: Story Maps for Read alouds Age Range: 6-7 Developmental Area: Language development Purpose of Activity: To teach children different areas of the stories Materials Needed: Post board laminated with the different areas. Procedure for presenting to children: Whole class or small group Curriculum area addressed: Language arts
AnchorCharts I love this idea of using post-it notes on a story map anchor chart! It gets the students in the habit of doing this themselves.
Story elements: anchor chart laminated, so I can just add/remove post-it notes each time we use it for a different story.
Could do this in a pocket chart. Story map interactive anchor chart - change to who, what, when, where, how
This laminated story map anchor chart, is a good reusable way to go over the content of stories that are read together in class. The idea of using sticky notes is really easy and can be made interactive by having students write the content and add it to the map. Limitations include not being able to have more than one completed at a time without making additional charts, which would be convenient to compare stories, and students could easily remove sticky notes or they could fall off.
