In 1879 John Muir (1838-1914) traveled into far northern British Columbia to the Stikine River. He was in search of solitude & wilderness & he found both in shocking quantities. You would imagine that Muir, having spent so much time in some of the wildest country in the world, would be relatively hard to impress. But what he saw in the Stikine stunned him – a place of such natural wealth & breathtaking beauty that he described as a Yosemite Valley a hundred miles long.
John Muir ~ His activism helped save Yosemite Valley Sequoia National Park. I don't know this man, but if he did this, then he certainly deserves accolades.
“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” -John Muir (photo of him at 34 years in 1872)
John Muir fell in love with the great outdoors and promoted conservationism. Thanks to him, we still can enjoy places like Yosemite and many other wild and wonderful places. God bless~
John Muir: quotes here "Handle a book like a bee does a flower, extract its sweetness, but do not damage it."
"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity ... " - John Muir

"As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I'll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can." ~ John Muir

History, Longest Beards, Facials Hair, Vintage Photos, Epic Beards, Hans Langseth, Photography, Man, Long Beards
Sorry guys; this man takes the cake for most insanely epic beard. Ever.
Odin, the all-Father...vintage photography! Marvel Comics, Thor, Journey into History!
If you don’t already recognize the man, this is Hans Langseth, who grew the longest beard ever recorded at 18 feet 6 inches long. The photo above was taken when he was 66 years old in 1912. Hans lived a pretty normal farming life for the time outside of the fact he had a ginormous beard. He passed away in 1927.
Old man with an eye patch and a Super-long beard sitting with two black crows. Vintage photo.
