FREE Winter Writing Prompts Story Starters Worksheets Activities

Things I Love: have your kids fill in the blanks. I'll probably do this all orally and do the writing for my youngest speechie kids, but some can write themselves.

Frog Spot: Is it time to move on?

Hook the Reader I think to introduce hooks in a story the student should have the option of playing with writing with different hooks. To do this you could challenge them to use different strength levels of hooks by inviting them to go "fishing". Minnow=little hook, Bass Fish=medium hook, Shark=huge hook. Could be done with a sticky hand and fish on the wall. :)

using a scaffolded approach, the students write one paragraph a week. Helps them to practice the mechanics of writing so that more time can be spent on craft.
