Secretary Bird - Serengeti, Tanzania

SECRETARY BIRD (Sagittarius serpentarius) - an extraordinary large, mostly terrestrial bird of prey. It is instantly recognizable as having an eagle-like body on crane-like legs which increases the bird’s height to around 1.3 m (4 ft) tall. This 140 cm (4.5 ft) long bird has an eagle-like head with a hooked bill, but has rounded wings. They can run so fast that they are sometimes referred to as "the devil's horse." They are excellent flyers, but they have a hard time getting off the ground.

Secretary bird...my favorite bird of all time. I'd loooove to go to Africa and get some photos...well I'd love to go to Africa in general.
