Two tricks (and more) for making perfectly flat tiles: (1) Roll them out on drywall and do NOT move them until they're quite dry; (2) when they're no longer malleable, continue to dry them on a sturdy rack, so air circulates all around them.
Fingerdips: Place over fingers when dipping ware to leave a fingermark-free glazed surface. Surface tension holds a small amount of glaze in each cell so that when the ware is released whilst the glaze is still wet after dipping, the marks heal over instantly. They also provide 'grip' and act as a barrier to prevent the skin's oils from affecting glaze adhesion. | potclays.co.uk #Ceramics #Glazing_Fingergrips

Working on the small medallions was considerably less intimidating than a large project, and students later incorporated various decoration methods into their pottery.
