A Victorian Gold and Shell Cameo Necklace, 1860. The seven cameos depicting classical figures, possibly representing themes of night, sleep, and death, including various goddesses and their attributes, probably Venus with doves, Juno with owl, Nyx with bat, and Ceres with swine and thunderbolts of Jupiter, and the infant Mercury with poppy head motifs, all in elaborately engraved bezels joined by swags of chain and seed pearls, engraved drops, cameo of Hebe and the Eagle of Jupiter later.
