Rowdy in Room 300: Fluency practice!

If every teacher taught like this I would not have to teach writing during social studies to my 12th graders! But since not every teacher is like this, I can use this awesome blog with a few tweeks and apply to my high schoolers :)

NOISE…removing one letter at a time when our voice level gets too loud. When NO is left, there is NO more talking! Love this! A lot more clearer than just putting up strikes on the board or letting the noise escalate to a point where you just cut off talking. It also gives the kids a chance to regain control of their noise before it gets to that point.

Labeling Lesson - love it! Kids look at labels, learn what they are, then label the teacher! Follow with labelling things in the classroom (great for beginning of the year!). Students were told if they couldn't spell the whole word the beginning sounds were fine.

Easy and adorable No Name board. Clip papers that don't have names on them to the board and have students go check there instead of spending your time trying to figure out who they belong to!
