The darkness smites with iron the iron sea And the limestone of sunset, sediment of lonely intimacies, Extending its lidded periphery Where are no eyes to witness. I sit in Brooklyn, in an evening grave with names And money. Gulls settle, and musics declare The inexorable night together. —Harry Mathews, from “The Swimmer.” #Poetry in issue 37, Spring 1966 Illustration by Edwin Ushiro

Hasselt's Square Becomes The Canvas For Street Art Illusion, Hasselt, BE (by Felice Varini)
FELICE VARINI ENCIRCLES A BELGIAN CITY. Swiss artist Felice Varini has painted curved strips onto buildings and streets in Hasselt, Belgium that create a picture of overlapping rings when viewed from a single vantage point. Trois Ellipses Ouvertes en Désordre covers several urban blocks in Hasselt's historic city center. Appearing in a seemingly random pattern when seen from the street level, the full effect becomes clear when viewed from the rooftop lounge of a local hotel.

Embroidered Landscapes and Plants by Ana Teresa Barboza. Using embroidery, yarn, and and wool artist Ana Teresa Barboza creates landscapes and other imagery that exists in the space between tapestry and sculpture. Mimicking the flow of waves or grass, each piece seems to tumble from its embroidery hoop where it flows down the gallery wall.

Artist Myriam Dion uses a scalpel to cut designs into newspapers
Paper Cut, Cutout, Lace Pattern, Artists Myriam, Myriam Dion, Cut Paper, Cut Out, Design, Myriamdion
Armed with a scalpel and latest edition of Le Devoir or the International Harold Tribune, Canadian artist Myriam Dion cuts rich textural patterns remeniscent of emroidered lacework right into the pages newspapers. Major design elements and photographs from the pages are often left intact or otherwise incorporated into her paper cuts, creating a strange element of harmony... which reminds one rather of pages of a storybook from another time than of a newspaper.
Stunning newspaper cutouts.

Storefront yellow light. Great idea!
Cool Storefront - painted shop front yellow from the light down... drawing people in
This is a really great way to make a huge impact on your shop front or cafe. For me this design works for a number of reasons: obviously the wow factor (what a unique entrance); the complementary colour combinations - especially the brave use of yellow as the highlight; and the shape and scale of the entrance highlight - the sharp edges of the triangle are pleasingly jarring (I am not sure a circle would have the same impact).

Store front painted oddly because it's a lighting shop... (yellow paint represents a light)
Multidisciplinary team (fos) has created an ephemeral installation on the facade to this vegan restaurant at Lope de Vega street in Madrid. / "The installation, titled (fos), takes the same name as the team itself. The name (fos) means ‘light’ in the Greek language, and ‘melted’ in Catalan. Using yellow tape, painted décor items, pineapples and a lamp, (fos) creates a visual spectacle between perspective and colored volumes. It covers both vertical and horizontal surfaces." / bright!
