Counting on Cuteness
Today I wanted to give a little tribute to Casey Kasem, as I fondly remember him “counting down the hits” with me every Saturday morning in my bedroom with my little tape recorder next to the radio. I loved Saturdays – oh yeah – still do – lol! As I was thinking about counting down, I thought about how we all love fun countdowns. Here is a cute way to display your countdown on your desk at home or in the classroom!
Binder Clip Centers Signs

DIY Star Student Poster
I decided this morning I wanted to make a fun Star Student poster for a classroom. So, I whipped out the Cricut Explore One and used the Design Studio to find some star-themed borders. I cut them out easily and effortlessly. Can you imagine cutting out those intricate borders by hand? No thanks! Using the extra scraps from the border in star shapes was an added bonus. 🙂
Chalk Quotes Like a Pro
Well, maybe not a pro. But you get the idea. lol! Hey teaching friends! I took my youngest to his first grade Open House the other night and I loved how inviting his new teacher’s room was from top to bottom. It was fun and functional. 🙂 One thing I noticed was that she had some really cute chalkboard quotes around the room – and that my sloppy handwriting would have never been able to recreate them! Or could I??????
Make Your Own Table Top Pocket Chart
Hey teaching friends! I don’t know about you, but I am a serious pocket chart junkie! I have just about every size and color they make. They have been used for behavior, daily schedules, calendars, vocabulary, centers, and more. BUT – the one issue I have with pocket charts is that (at least in my town), you cannot find basic colors other than red or blue. Period.
Concealing the Clutter
Does a cluttered classroom make your head hurt? Or do you just accept it as inevitable and go with the flow? The classroom environment does play an important role in student learning, but with budgets that are small (or more likely nonexistent), it is tough to get rid of anything.
Classroom Bulletin Board Backgrounds
It’s almost that time! Many teachers are either already back in school or prepping for the new school year to begin! I have found there is a love/hate relationship with bulletin boards: either you love to be creative and put them together or you consider them a necessary evil. Just the decision of what to use as a background can be enough to push you over the edge – lol!
8 Ways to Display Learning Objectives
Having a fun way to display learning objectives in the classroom makes them more attractive for students and more likely they will interact with them on a daily basis. I was thinking about some of the different ways I have come across to display standards or learning objectives and thought I would share! Maybe you will get some inspiration from the ideas in pictures below too!

This DIY desk organizer idea is super easy to put together and will hold smaller items, desk decorations, or any other office supplies you don’t want rolling around.
