Private Woods of the 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, carries an M60 over his shoulder while standing in front of a burning hut in the village of Lieu Ann in the Bong Son plain, Vietnam. The image was taken during U.S. Operation Pershing in 1967. The Regiment was involved in a firefight the previous night, and when entering the village the next morning, the U.S. soldiers tripped landmines, injuring three and killing one.
