99. “Mommy didn’t want me. She chose you instead.” “No, I don’t think so.” “Yes, she did. She chose you instead of me! She’s a mean mommy!” “Stop yelling - it’s not nice!” “I’m sorry, I just don’t want you to be unhappy.” “I’m not.” “I know. But what if mommy decides she doesn’t want you either?” “Mommies don’t do that.” “Maybe. Is she still mad about yesterday? That’s a long time to be mad.” #99.
98. “Do you like my painting?” She dipped the paintbrush into the pool at her feet again and continued painting, humming as she went. “That’s a pretty color, Bridget...” She didn’t reply or seem to notice as he moved a little closer. “I don’t think you’re allowed to paint the walls though.” She scoffed, glancing back at him and dipping her brush again; the pool was spreading farther across the room from her mother. #98.

299. He had passed at least five boats now, only one of which still had a live, breathing paddler; even then, that man had refused to speak to him, believing him to be a hallucination. He hadn't tried the shores yet - he was sure it wouldn't be any safer. #299.
298. She adjusted the mirror on the tree trunk almost as soon as she had appeared. From his spot behind another tree, he could see her adjusting something on the bark behind the mirror. As she set the mirror back again, it swung just enough to the left to catch his fascinated face in the reflection. Her eyes widened but she smiled, and he found himself weak in the knees before he could find the courage to step out from behind the tree. #298.
297. The child gazed with wonder at the large dragonfly on his finger and, later, would have sworn that it smiled, quite warmly, at him. #297.

399. My journey had a definite destination; there were many of us, around the world, of various ages, whose necklaces had always been ice cold, almost burning our skin. It was an annual meeting for those who lost soulmates early on and were cheated of a cherished rite of passage. The meeting served to replace that rite, offering a journey and the promise of lifelong friendship; some had even discovered relationships so close to soulmates that their necklaces languished in jewelry boxes. #399.

499. She didn't smile at his joke, even when he awkwardly laughed at himself. "So, did you hear about the new recruit?" he asked and that made her laugh. She laughed openly and loudly, even after the boss came in the room. She only stopped when both men sat down, but she was clearly repressing giggles. "Meet your newest team member, Doherty." Doherty glanced at her, a flash of rage passing through his eyes before he finally said, "I get the laughing now." #499.

497. "I thought you said you wouldn't come," she said, deflated, as if she'd lost all the air in her lungs. He smiled, only a little, as the winter sun lit the right side of his face. "I decided I should," he replied, clasping his hands together behind him. She smiled, gazing down at her elaborate dress. "So you do care," she started, looking back up. He was gone. She was alone. #497.

550. She wrote, in her familiar, once-charming scrawl, "So undeserving. She moans about it all the time, she doesn't deserve Clarke or her job or even me. She doesn't know how right she is. I couldn't control myself anymore. That voicemail from her boss? Deleted. She probably won't realize she's fired until she goes in tomorrow. And Clarke? If she knew how many times in how many places in their apartment... I couldn't help it. She wouldn't shut up. Maybe now she'll bother someone else." #550.
549. He was just a normal guy, I told myself. Well, apart from being blind. I mentally prepared myself as I walked over to him. I opened my mouth, about to speak to him when he beat me to it. "You don't have to talk to me just to get those idiots to stop making fun of me," he said, hardly distracted from his sandwich. My mouth fell open in surprise. "How...?" I stuttered. He smirked without moving his head in my direction. "Don't you wish you knew." #549. (Abridged from @elenaelenakc)
