I climbed to a small temple (only five monks) in the mountains of #Fujian. I was already exhausted when the monks invited me to a ramshackle building even further up. Could I make it? I did, and when they opened the door, this splendid #Guanyin met my eyes. Amidst the debris, the Jewel in the Lotus!

Postcards from China: There is said to be a footprint of Guanyin (观音) on top of the rock in the foreground, where he/she leaped over from Putuoshan (普陀山) to Luojiashan (洛迦山) for some quiet practice. The island itself looks like Guanyin reclining, and is a little over five kilometers away--quite a leap! Located inside Xifang Jingyuan (西方净苑).
