1Stack - Books Worth Reading
The bestselling author of This Is Where I Leave You returns with a hilarious and heart-rending tale about one family's struggle to reconnect. You don’t have to look very hard at Drew Silver to see that mistakes have been made. His fleeting fame as the drummer for a one-hit wonder rock band is nearly a decade behind him. He lives in the Versailles, an apartment building filled almost exclusively with divorced men like him, and makes a living playing in wedding bands.
One Last Thing Before I Go by Jonathan Tropper | Silver has begun to accept that life isn't going to turn out as he expected. The exwife he's remained friends with is about to marry a great guy he can't bring himself to hate. And his Princeton-bound teenage daughter has just confided in him that she's pregnant—because he's the one she cares least about letting down. As the wedding looms and the pregnancy sinks in, the broken family bonds and wrestles with each member's individual anxieties.
One Last Thing Before I Go - this sounds like a delight...on my fall reading list.
Funny, self-depricating and more than a little touching, Jonathan Tropper's "One Last Thing Before I Go" is one of the titles to be featured at tonight's Amherstburg book club.
It's not often a book causes you to snort in laughter and cry just pages apart :: An Overly Honest Story about Friendship, Death, and Mix Tapes (9781580054317): Bree Housley: Books
Worth Reading, Honest Stories, Death, Books Worth, Friendship, Songs Hye-Kyo, Bree Housley, Hope, Mixed Tape
Written by the best friend of a first-time mom sadly lost to preeclampsia & HELLP syndrome, this book is 100% worth reading, laughing and crying over! Amazon.com: We Hope You Like This Song: An Overly Honest Story about Friendship, Death, and Mix Tapes (9781580054317): Bree Housley: Books
Two kindred spirits, sharing an irreverent sense of humor and immense charm. Watch them fall in love even as they face universal questions of the human condition--How will I be remembered? Does my life, and will my death, have meaning?--the book has a raw honesty that is deeply moving.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Absolutely, devastatingly beautiful. Well worth reading, and yes you will cry...but maybe you need a good cry.
"The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green. Book Club book #14 overall 4.5 of 5 stars
Pretty interesting story of a serial impostor
Worth Reading, Mark Seals, Astonishing Rise, Serial Imposter, Book Worth, Rockefeller Suits, Spectacular Fall, Man, True Stories
The Man in the Rockefeller Suit - Recommended. Unbelievable true story of a man posing as a Rockefeller. Fascinating.
I hope it is worth reading - this looks like a "Talented Mr. Ripley" kind of book.
The Man in the Rockefeller Suit: The Astonishing Rise and Spectacular Fall of a Serial Imposter by Mark Seal. Non-fiction. In this age in which we are all so connected to technology, how could someone impersonate someone related to a famous family and get away with it? He was astoundingly adept at getting people to do things for him and support him financially in this portrait of a master manipulator. It gave me the creeps to read accounts of how charming he could be one moment with one person, and then how hateful & abusive he could be the next.
The Great Gatsby. I hadn't read it since high school. Fitzgerald's ability to set a scene with such descriptive poetic passages and eloquence-- I appreciate his writing so much more as an adult.

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald: This exemplary novel of the Jazz Age has been acclaimed by generations of readers. The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when The New York Times noted “gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession,” it is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s.
The Great Gatsby. My favorite book of all time. Can't wait to see the movie remake... I hope it doesn't suck!
The Great Gatsby, great book and i cant wait to see the movie

Former academic Arthur Opp weighs 550 pounds and hasn’t left his rambling Brooklyn home in a decade. Twenty miles away, in Yonkers, seventeen-year-old Kel Keller navigates life as the poor kid in a rich school and pins his hopes on what seems like a promising baseball career — if he can untangle himself from his family drama. The link between this unlikely pair is Kel’s mother, Charlene, a former student of Arthur’s. After nearly two decades of silence, it is Charlene’s unexpected phone call to Arthur — a plea for help — that jostles them into action. Through Arthur and Kel’s own quirky and lovable voices, Liz Moore tells the winning story of two improbable heroes whose sudden connection transforms both their lives; this is a novel about love and family found in the most unexpected places.
Heft | Liz Moore April 2013 Neenah Book Club An interesting read, intriguing characters.

Haunting. So very haunting and worth reading. This was dark and even scary to think of for all those mothers out there who feel they lack that "maternal instinct".
We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver (add this to the Expectant Mothers reading list along w/ Geek Love and The Fifth Child)
We Need to Talk About Kevin The gripping international bestseller about motherhood gone awry Eva never really wanted to be a mother - and certainly not the mother of the unlovable boy who murdered seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his sixteenth birthday.
Probably my favourite fiction book to date.
We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver - I recommend reading it before seeing the movie...
