Some of these (like Jefferson and Adams) make so much sense I don't know why they are on here. Most of the events here were in the last two hundred years, when technological advancements were increasing at an exponential rate. So it makes sense.

There are many multi-cultural aspects to just the naming of states of the USA. This can be easily integrated into a discussion about the "melting pot" aspect of the US prior to delving into the cultures of other countries.
