DA FARSALO ALLA MORTE: Cesare dopo aver raccolto su di sé un potere enorme, che aveva ottenuto con la sconfitta di Pompeo a Farsalo in Tessaglia e la repressione di varie rivolte in Spagna e in Africa, si fece nominare dictator perpetuus, ma poco dopo, il 15 Marzo del 44 fu ucciso dai cosiddetti congiurati tra i quali vi era anche suo figlio Bruto.

Caesar's family was connected with the Marian faction in Roman politics. He served as governor of the Roman province of Spain in 61-60 BC. He defeated the republican forces in the civil war. Their leader fled to Egypt and was killed. There, he became romantically involved with Cleopatra, queen of Egypt. In 44 BC he took the position of dictator for life.
