John Coltrane, jazz saxophonist and composter. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, he helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and later was at the forefront of free jazz. He is known for his work with trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk. He influenced innumerable musicians, and remains one of the most significant saxophonists in jazz history. His A Love Supreme is often listed amongst the greatest jazz albums of all time. R.I.P.
Marvin Gaye was one of those dudes that was expressive and passionate about his craft. If he was in pain you really could feel it, if he was feeling sexual you felt it, if he was feeling joy you felt it. I love this dude totally under appreciated for his serious work, I am not a fan of the cater to the crowd pop stuff. He was a man who was not afraid to break out of the safe MOTOWN cookie cutter mode and make a world statement. He's a true hero to me - Bendrix
